Third International Summit on Human Genome Editing

Project Scope:

The National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Medicine will join with the Royal Society in planning the third international summit on human genome editing.  Building on the two previous summits held in 2015 and 2018, the third summit will address advances in the science, therapeutic applications, international policies and regulations, and public attitudes.  It will also take into account recent reports by the International Commission and the WHO as well as other relevant reports. The Royal Society will have the staff lead in supporting the planning committee and in organizing the third summit, which will be held in London in Spring 2022. As done previously, a consultant writer will be retained to draft a proceedings in brief that will follow Academy procedures for external review.
