U.S. - Egypt Science and Technology Joint Fund


Project Scope:

The Policy and Global Affairs Program on Development, Security, and Cooperation (DSC) will assist the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the U.S. Department of State (DOS) in providing program implementation and management support for activities conducted under the U.S.- Egypt Science & Technology Cooperative Agreement (“S&T Agreement”). The purpose of the S&T Agreement is to increase and strengthen cooperation between researchers and institutions in Egypt and the U.S. in order to contribute to the human and economic development of Egypt. Specific program goals include: (1) improving Egypt’s research environment; (2) increasing the competitiveness of human resources; (3) funding of science and technology programs; (4) supporting strategic innovation in research and development; and (5) building industry competitiveness.  DSC activities include but are not limited to support for scientific reviews of proposals, technical and administrative grant management of partner institutions involved in projects selected for funding, and development of new scientific activities including innovation and entrepreneurship that promote and advance bilateral S&T goals in the U.S. and/or Egypt.
