Limiting Future Collision Risk to Spacecraft: An Assessment of NASA’s Meteoroid and Orbital Debris Programs, a new report from the National Research Council, examines NASA’s programs for protecting spacecraft from meteoroids, an increasing amount of abandoned equipment, spent rocket bodies, and other debris orbiting Earth that could cause significant damage if they collide with satellites or space missions.  Advance copies will be available to reporters only starting at 11 a.m. EDT on Wednesday, Aug. 31.  THE REPORT IS EMBARGOED AND NOT FOR PUBLIC RELEASE BEFORE 11 A.M.
