PIN: DBASSE-BOSE-15-03

Major Unit:

Division of Behavioral and Social Sciences and Education
National Academy of Engineering

Sub Unit: Board on Science Education

RSO: Brenner, Kerry

Subject/Focus Area: Education

Project Scope
An ad hoc committee will review research on high school laboratory experiences conducted since publication of the original report in 2006, America's Lab Report: Investigations in High School Science, and use this research to inform the revision in an updated report. The review of research will include identifying innovations in secondary science instruction such as computer modeling or use of large on-line data sets that have become more widely available since publication of the original report. The committee will also examine the new vision for science education embodied in the Framework for K-12 Science Education and the Next Generation Science Standards and provide guidance for designing high school laboratory experiences so that they align with this vision.
