U.S. Losing Its Window on the Ocean’s Health
A new report from the National Research Council says the U.S. could lose its capability to use satellites to monitor the health of the oceans because existing ocean color satellite sensors are aging and planned new sensors are not equipped to meet all data needs. The report lays out a series of actions needed to improve planned satellite sensors and strengthen collaboration among agencies that will use the ocean data.
