Mid-term Assessment of Planetary Sciences Decadal Goals – New Report Aug. 7

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s 2011 decadal survey on planetary science, Vision and Voyages for Planetary Science in the Decade 2013-2022, recommended a suite of flagship missions for the decade that could provide a steady stream of important new discoveries about the solar system.

To ensure progress toward realizing the strategies outlined in the decadal survey, a new mid-term assessment report, Visions into Voyages for Planetary Sciences in the Decade 2013-2022: A Midterm Review, evaluates the scientific findings and technical advances in the field over the last several years.

Advance copies of the report will be available to reporters only beginning at noon EDT on Monday, Aug. 6.  The report is embargoed and not for public release before 11 a.m. EDT on Tuesday, Aug. 7.  To obtain a copy, reporters should contact the Academies’ Office of News and Public Information; tel. 202-334-2138 or email news@nas.edu.
