NAS Will Hold 151st Annual Meeting April 26-29
From April 26 to 29, the National Academy of Sciences will hold its 151st annual meeting. Events that will be video webcast live at http://www.nationalacademies.org are:
April 26, 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. EDT -- Presentation ceremony and signing of the "Registry of Membership" for members elected in 2013.
April 27, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. EDT -- Recipients of the 2014 NAS awards will be honored for their outstanding contributions to science. Among the winners is former U.S. congressman John E. Porter, who will receive the Public Welfare Medal, the Academy’s most prestigious award, “in recognition of decades of advocacy on behalf of scientific and medical research.”
April 28, 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. EDT -- Gina McCarthy, administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, will address NAS members.
New Academy members will also be elected. Election results will be available online by noon EDT on April 29 at http://www.nationalacademies.org. Reporters can register in advance to receive the list of new members via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
