Project Scope
|
This project is intended to assist the World Health Organization’s Commission on the Social Determinants of Health (CSDH) in identifying recent work on various aspects of aging that would support their efforts to build a body of knowledge informs both policy and effective, equitable interventions on these determinants. The study committee will review the initial analytical and strategic documents of the CSDH Knowledge Networks, and prepare a letter report that comments on these documents from the perspective of recent work in aging, potentially strengthening the knowledge base by bringing new work to the Commission’s attention summarizing recent developments in aging research. In a seperate activity to be undertaken after the letter report is issued, up to six papers are expected to be commissioned on various aspects of the social determinants of health. The authors of those papers will subsequenbtly be invited to a one-day workshop to present their papers, which will be commpiled in a proceedings that will be presented to the National Institute on Aging NIA) and CSDH.
The project is sponsored by the National Institute of Aging.
The approximate start date of the project is April 2006.
