OPEN SESSION

Field trip to Western Everglades Natural Areas
***Seats for the public are extremely limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Please sign up at http://nas-sites.org/cisrerp/cisrerp-vi-meeting-2/. Individuals must provide their own transportation.

7:30 a.m. Committee departs from hotel

8:30 a.m. Field trip participants meet at the Mile Marker 51 Recreational Area in Big Cypress National Preserve
• Mile Marker 51 Recreational Area is 26.7 miles west of the I-75 toll plaza. Use caution not to pass the Recreational Area access because the next safe turnaround is approximately 12-miles westward at Mile Marker 63.

9:45 a.m. Airboat departure to Western Everglades Natural Areas
• Observe impacted and unimpacted areas
• Lunch at Game Warden Island
• Discussion and sharing of Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK) and tree islands history as a community meeting place.
• Travel north to observe canal influences on the WCA-3A vegetation, ecology and hydrology.

4:30 p.m. Return to airboat launch and departure
