The following topics were discussed in the closed sessions:
The committee met during the afternoon of January 21, 2009 to
• conduct a Balance and Composition discussion,
• discuss prior reports that are relevant to the study charge, and
• discuss the statement of task for the study.

The committee met on January 23, 2009 to
• hear from committee members about industry and federal laboratory approaches to topics that are relevant to the study,
• hear about other relevant ongoing NRC studies, and
• discuss plans for the committee’s March 2009 meeting.
